Truing the Patterns of Pants
Let’s talk about balancing base pants patterns. These are the most important basic pattern rules when we speak of having a balanced pattern. It’s the beginning of making pants fit properly.
*When the dart is closed, side seams must be completely mirrored, and crotch points must align. On tight pants, the crotch point of the back panel can be a little lower but no lower than 1-inch (2.5 cms).
*When the dart is open, the back piece peeks out.
Always remember to balance your patterns before cutting anything. Even if you plan to alter your pattern, it’s best to start with a balanced base pattern and then go on from there.
